For centuries, art and literature have been predominantly male-dominated fields. Or at least that is what we have been told. In recent years, however, the experiences of female artists and writers have increasingly come to the forefront. Often battling against the prevailing environment and challenging conventions, they have played a significant role in the history of human creativity. Annalena Benini, who this year assumes the role of director of the Turin International Book Fair, becoming the first woman to hold this position.
