Brooklyn, Bavaria, Italy: A World to Narrate
In this encounter, we’ll explore a unique, elongated triangle with multicultural appeal: Brooklyn, Munich and Italy. This dynamic triangle, with its shifting starting points and evolving horizons, reflects the ever-changing stories, languages and literary visions of these vibrant locales. Navigating this triangle are two authors in constant motion: the American Claudia Durastanti, born in New York, raised in Basilicata, who ventured as a 'foreigner' in London and has now returned to delve into the enigmatic South of Miss Italia; and the German Helena Janeczek, Bavarian-Polish, who began her literary career in the 1980s with poems in German, won the Strega Prize in 2018 with a novel in Italian and recently re-emerged with Il tempo degli imprevisti, offering a multifaceted view of the early 20th century. Two voices, each offering a unique perspective on a world to explore, experience and narrate.
