Daniele Mencarelli
There is no rule to say you should keep on digging when you reach the bottom of the well. Daniele Mencarelli, who has risen from the depths of difficulty thanks to writing, has learned this lesson. After his debut with the poetry collection Bambino Gesù (Tipografie Vaticane, 2001), named after the hospital where the author was cleaning, words played a central role in his life: from poetry and screenplays for TV dramas to theatre, where he presented his first work, Agnello di Dio in 2022, to his novels - the Mondadori trilogy consisting of La casa degli sguardi (2018), Tutto chiede salvezza (2020, Strega Award finalist, winner of the Strega Giovani, now also a TV series) and Sempre tornare (2021), and his most recent novel, Fame d’aria (Mondadori, 2023). Latest work translated to German: Für die Kämpfer, für die Verrückten, (Fischer, 2022).
