Francesca Melandri
Melandri’s Sangue giusto (2017 by Rizzoli, and Wagenbach as Alle, außer mir), made the Strega Prize longlist, attracting interest, particularly in the German-speaking world, topping the Der Spiegel bestseller list for 10 weeks. The story of an Italian family and of migration, it is the final book of the Trilogia dei padri, following Eva Sleeps (Europa Editions, 2016) and Più alto del mare (Rizzoli, 2012, nominated for the Campiello Prize), reissued by Bompiani, which investigates the darkest pages of 20th century Italian history. Melandri (b. Rome, 1964) first expressed artistic sensibility through a long career as a scriptwriter, after which she turned to novels. Her most recent is Piedi Freddi (Bompiani, 2024). Her books have been translated into a dozen languages. Latest work translated to German: Kalte Füße (Wagenbach, 2024).
