Melania G. Mazzucco

Melania G. Mazzucco

Art, history, life: three strands intertwine in Melania Mazzucco’s journey, from her debut Il bacio della Medusa (1996) to Lei così amata (2000), Io sono con te (2016) and multiple prizewinner L’architettrice (2019). Daughter of playwright Roberto Mazzucco, she has written for literary magazines, radio and cinema, finding international recognition with the Strega Prize winning novel Vita (2003), an epic tale of Italian immigration to America in the early 20th century. Art is the focus of her two books about Tintoretto: a novel La lunga attesa dell’angelo (2008) and a biography Jacomo Tintoretto e i suoi figli (2009), tales of paintings of Il museo del mondo (2014) and Self Portrait (2023), a gallery of works with women as both portraitist and subject. Latest work translated to German: Die Villa der Architektin (Folio, 2024).
