Vivian Lamarque

Vivian Provera Pellegrini Comba Lamarque has a complex background, taking her surnames from her adoptive father, who died when she was four, her adoptive mother, and her biological mother, from whom she was separated at nine months old as an illegitimate child. Trentina by birth and paternal origins, and Milanese by affiliation, the poet, writer and translator won the Viareggio First Novel Award with Teresino (Società di Poesia, 1981), and many others followed. She won the first edition of the Strega Poetry Prize in 2023 with L‘amore da vecchia (Mondadori, 2022), and the Rodari and Andersen Awards for fairytales. Recent works include Storia con cielo, mare e paura (Salani 2024) addressing the delicate theme of boat children on the Mediterranean and La timida Timmi (Piemme 2024). She has written for "Corriere della Sera" since 1992.
