Beatrice Alemagna
Inspired by her heroes Pippi Longstocking and Marcovaldo, Bologna-born Beatrice Alemagna decided to be an authorillustrator at age eight. Determination, study and talent did the rest, and success soon followed. The award-winning author’s name appears alongside those of literary maestros from Apollinaire to Roald Dahl, whose words she accompanies with strokes of her pencil in works published in Italy and abroad. She has twice been included in the “New York Times” and “New York Public Library” best illustrated children’s books list, first with On a Magical Do-Nothing Day (2017) and then with Child of Glass (2020, both originally published in Italian by Topipittori). In Germany, Ein grosser Tag, an dem fast nichts passierte (Beltz & Gelberg, 2018) won the famous Huckepack Prize. Latest work translated to German: Das Aller Aller Beste! (Rotopol, 2024).
