Homage to Andrea Camilleri
In view of the centenary of Andrea Camilleri's birth (1925-2019), celebrations in honour of the great Italian writer are starting at the Buchmesse. Actor Massimo Venturiello, who was a pupil of Camilleri's and who lent his voice to the audio books in the Commissario Montalbano series, will read a preview of a selection of the unpublished letters that from 1949 to 1960 the man who was to become one of the most popular, best-read, best-translated Italian writers wrote, holding uninterrupted conversations with his family and himself, and composing a sort of autobiography of his early years. The letters will later be published in a volume, and it is to Antonio Sellerio, Andrea Camilleri's publisher, that the prologue to this preview reading is entrusted.
