ILfest – Italian Literature Festival Munich
Italian Literature Festival Munich
ILfest was designed with the aim of promoting and disseminating Italian literature in Munich. Through meetings with authors of novels, essays and poetry, ILfest specifically aims to introduce the main new works of the Italian publishing industry to a German audience. Most of the meetings include simultaneous translation, and the books that are showcased are either already translated into German or are currently being translated.
The 2024 edition, “Humanity is an Endless Apprenticeship” has taken us on a long and articulated journey of reflecting on 20th-century literature, investigations into on-going changes in the Italian language (particularly those brought about by contact with new technologies), exploration of alternative and fantastic worlds, and in-depth analyses of interpersonal difficulties. Different literary genres have been explored, reflecting on how literature inevitably prompts us to think about ourselves, and in this way ultimately helps us understand and define who we are.
