In Trieste, everything seems to challenge your boundaries. From the rush of the bora wind sweeping down from the mountains and propelling you toward the sea, to the local surnames with their distinctive final consonants that lend a unique twist to traditional Italian names. To its position, precariously balanced on a line that both man and history have repeatedly shifted. What exactly is the nature of such boundaries? We consulted Mauro Covacich and Paolo Rumiz, two authors who, beyond their Triestine roots, are known for their tendency to traverse boundaries - be they fictional, linguistic, real or imaginary - in their pursuit of understanding others and valuing diversity as a form of enrichment.
