Luigi Maria Vignali

Envoy Luigi Maria Vignali (b. Rome, 1962) graduated in Political Science from Rome in 1987 and began his diplomatic career in 1989 with the Directorate-General for Personnel. His appointments include: the Permanent Mission of Italy in the EU, Brussels, 1992; Consul General in Jeddah, 1996; Head of the Competitions Office of the Directorate-General for Personnel in Rome, 2000; Permanent Mission of Italy Brussels as Councillor for general coordination, 2004; Head of Coordination for the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rome, 2007; Adviser for International Relations to the CEO of Finmeccanica S.p.A, 2014; Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Italy’s National Anti-Corruption Department, 2015. Since May 2017, he has been Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies.
