Fabio Stassi
When it comes to books, writer, editor and librarian Fabio Stassi (b. Rome, 1962) is like a fish in water. He lives in Viterbo, and recommends the train to reach the capital – where he manages the Library of Oriental Studies at La Sapienza University – because for Stassi, train carriages are true reading and writing laboratories. His novel L’ultimo ballo di Charlot (Sellerio, 2012) became a publishing sensation, translated into 19 languages, but also makes shrewd forays into non-fiction and children’s fiction, e.g. Notturno francese (Sellerio, 2023), the fourth in the saga of Vince Corso, the bibliotherapist detective, published in Germany by Converso. His latest book, published by Sellerio, is Babelplatz, is a literary report on book burnings in the 20th century (2024). Latest work translated to German: Die Seele aller Zufälle (Converso, 2024).
