Elisabetta Dami
The adventures of mouse journalist Geronimo Stilton have won over millions of young readers around the world. This publishing success story began in 2000, and is translated into 52 languages, selling over 185 million copies worldwide. But not everyone knows how he really came about: the result of author Elisabetta Dami’s volunteer work in a paediatric hospital. A travelling enthusiast who completed a world trip at the age of 23 and earned her pilot’s licence, she still volunteers at the Geronimo Stilton Foundation to this day. Dami was awarded an order of merit by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella in 2022 and declares that she loves all the countries of the world, while keeping Italy, where she was born and still lives, in her heart. Latest work translated to German: Geronimo Stilton. Rückkehr nach Fantasia (Rowohlt, 2014).
