Gianrico Carofiglio
Bari-born Carofiglio has been a public prosecutor specialising in organised crime for many years. In 2007, he was appointed advisor to the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Committee, and from 2008 to 2013 he was a Senator of the Republic. He began writing fiction in 2002 with Involuntary Witness whose protagonist, lawyer Guido Guerrieri, was defined by The Times as a ‘wonderful character’, and whom we find in six subsequent novels published over the years, including the most recent, L’orizzonte della notte. He has also written novels, stories and essays that are translated around the world. In addition to writing, Carofiglio is also a lecturer and stage performer of readings on the ethics of words, the power of kindness and the power of mistakes.
