Stefania Auci’s Florio saga has been sold in more than 40 countries, including Germany, where the three volumes about the rich Sicilian dynasty are entitled Die Löwen von Sizilien. Auci, who was born in Trapani but is Palermitan at heart, was a support teacher in secondary schools. In 2017, she dedicated an essay to the world of education, La cattiva scuola (Tlon), cowritten with Francesca Maccani. In 2022, she won the seventieth edition of the Bancarella Prize with L‘inverno dei leoni (Nord, 2021), the second chapter of the Florio saga. In 2023, Paolo Genovese directed the television series of the same name based on the novel. Latest work translated to German: Die Löwen von Sizilien. Das Schicksal einer Familie (Goldmann, 2022).
