Destination Frankfurt: press conference in Berlin

On Friday 15 March 2024, a press conference was held at the Italian Embassy in Berlin to present the rich Italy Guest of Honour programme. Meetings, initiatives and literary activities will bring the creativity and innovation of the Italian publishing industry to various cities in Germany and Italy, comprising many stopovers along the fascinating journey with “Destination Frankfurt”.  

“2024 is a year that allows us to present the many faces of Italian culture to our German friends,” says Armando Varricchio, the Italian Ambassador to Germany, listing the thematic fairs and festivals that Italy Guest of Honour will organise in collaboration with an extensive network of institutions: the Ministry of Culture, the Centre for Books and Reading, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Embassy in Berlin, the Italian Institutes of Culture in Germany, the ICE – the Agency for the Foreign Promotion and Internationalisation of Italian Businesses and the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), which will take care of the editorial programme. 

Many Italian authors and books will be present at literary events in Germany and Italy – the Leipzig Book Fair, ILfest in Munich, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the Turin Book Fair, among others – and each meeting will be an opportunity to showcase the cultural heritage of our country, from our roots and into the future.
