Luigi De Pascalis

History is the playground where Luigi De Pascalis mixes arts and genres, from the streets of 4th century Rome, to medieval Europe or Restoration Spain. His historical trilogy set in Rome brings to life one of the best-loved characters of his kind, magistrate Caio Celso, who first appeared in Rosso Velabro (Irradiazioni, 2003). The art world is portrayed in Il sigillo di Caravaggio (2019, Newton Compton), Il pittore maledetto (2020, Newton Compton) and Il cavaliere, la morte e il diavolo (La Lepre, 2022), while La congrega secreta (2022, Newton Compton) is a historical thriller set in the 16th century. De Pascalis’s awards include the Pinocchio di Carlo Lorenzini Award for his graphic novel inspired by Collodi’s novel (La Lepre, 2011) and the Acqui Award for the best historical novel with Notturno bizantino (La Lepre, 2015).
