Rita Charbonnier

“I could read at age four, and write and type by the time I was eight. I played the piano from a very young age.” Rita Charbonnier’s future artistic trajectory could not have been clearer. An actress, a journalist for the theatre magazine Hystrio, she crossed the literary threshold with Mozart‘s Sister (Penguin, 2008), a best-selling novel translated in 12 countries, followed by La strana giornata di Alexandre Dumas (2009) and Le due vite di Elsa (2011, both Piemme). After addressing the theme of trust in Figlia del cuore (2020, Marcos y Marcos), she returned to mixing music and literature with L‘amante di Chopin (2023, Marcos y Marcos), the story of the relationship between the Polish composer/pianist and French novelist/playwright George Sand. Latest work translated to German: Mein Liebes Fräulein Mozart (blanvalet, 2006).
